The Perfect Gifts for the Travel Lover in your life

Categories Travel

We all know that finding the perfect gift can sometimes be tedious. So I decided to create the perfect Gift Guide for the traveler in your life (or for yourself!).  Below are a few of my wish-lish items this year and a few things that I have and love.  They are things that I would definitely consider useful for travel.  Some are quite indulgent which is what make them nice gift ideas rather than essential travel items!  Enjoy!

Feel free to send this someone’s way who *might* need a few hints this year….

What to buy for someone who loves to travel?

Travel Essentials

6 in 1 Travel Accessories Kit

This is everything that a traveler needs for a trip! A kit that comes with a TSA Lock, a luggage scale, an international adapter, a Passport Cover, an Eye mask and Earplugs.

Packing Cubes

These are a lifesaver for ANY traveler! With 4 different sized cubes (XL,L,M &S) & a laundry bag this makes keeping organized while packing & traveling a breeze! Packing cubes not only keep your clothes organized they also keep the clutter in your suitcase at a minimum!

Travel Sized Reusable Bottles

These are another lifesaver. Instead of constantly having to buy travel sized products, or not being able to find the products you want, these come to the rescue (and they save you money!).  These are great because it comes with 16 different pieces, meaning you can find exactly what you need! And as an added bonus they’re TSA approved so you can bring them in your carryon! Or if you want a more simple set these are for you.

Neck Pillow

A neck pillow is ESSENTIAL for any flight. They make your flight instantly 100x more comfortable. This one is a memory Foam Pillow with a built-in removable insert so you can adjust the thickness of the pillow based on your personal preference and sitting positions!

Neck Support Pillow

This is another type of neck pillow that holds your head up and wraps around your neck. And as an added bonus it’s half the size!

Travel Wrap

A travel wrap is the best accessory (especially on a long flight). When traveling I always find the temperature fluctuating and a wrap is a great solution. It functions as a blanket, a sweater and a fashionable outfit!
Passport Case

There is absolutely nothing more important than a Passport for travelers. Especially for someone heading overseas. Keeping it safe and knowing where it is at all times, is crucial. Not only can they safely store their Passport (and look cute while doing it), it’s also perfect for storing cash, credit cards and boarding passes or tickets! (& as a bonus these covers are customizable!)

Luggage Tags

Another fun and stylish way to customize your stuff! These tags make it easier to spot your luggage at the airport. How many people have big black suitcases? Everyone… so this tag will help your bag to stand out from the rest!

TSA Lock – 4 Pack

If you are traveling in or out the US TSA is the lock you should use to avoid the security officers breaking up the lock. This high-security lock makes your valuables safe and prevents others putting things you don’t own in your bags.

Microfiber Travel Towel

This is a must have for backpackers staying at hostels or travelers in general. It is highly absorbent and dries incredibly fast compared to normal towels. This microfiber travel towel is very soft and comfortable to use.

Luggage Scale

Gone are the days of going over your checked bag limit and experiencing the embarrassment of repacking your over-weight baggage at check-in. Skip the stress and check out a digital Luggage Scale. The accurate and handy digital luggage scale can definitely save you from the unexpected bag fees.

Travel Wallet

Travel wallets are essential accessories for keeping your documents safe and organized during your trip. This one comes in 20 different colors! And as a bonus it has  1 passport pocket, 1 boarding pass compartment, 3 credit cards slots, 1 id slot, 1 sim card pouch, 1 coupon ticket slot, 1 cellphone pouch, 1 money & coins zippered pocket, 1 key holder and 1 pen holder, 1 slim pocket.

Eye Mask

This is the greatest way to fall asleep no matter where you are (but especially on planes and trains!) It has a dark lining, so it is completely pitch black when you put it on, and with special contouring, so no light gets in around the side and no pressure is on your eyes.

Travel electronics and gadget gifts

Bluetooth Headphones

Good headphones are a great gift for anyone, but especially for travelers. Headphones are a must on any trip. Whether it’s a long flight or roaming around a new city, Bluetooth Headphones are a must for any trip! And these have up to 40 hours of battery life, meaning they’re perfect for the person on the go.

These are my favorite but there are a lot more to choose from on Amazon. From these top rated Bose wireless noise canceling headphones , to classic earbuds you can find something  for everyone on Amazon.

Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 (Smokey White)

A great way to create and print memories on the go. Don’t forget some extra film!

Smartphone Printer

If you’re  like me you’re constantly taking photos on your phone. With this handy tool you can print photos straight from your phone on this mini portable printer!

Anker Portable Charger

Not the most exciting of gifts, but definitely the most useful thing to bring on a trip! If you or your gift recipient are anything like me and find yourself constantly running out of battery then this is the perfect present. As travelers we use our phones for everything, it’s a map, a camera, a way to connect with people at home, and to listen to music. If you’re out and about exploring a city all day long there’s no doubt your find your phone battery quickly drained. This power bank can charge your phone up to 7 TIMES and also has a quick charge option!

Portable Speaker

Who doesn’t love listening to music?! This speaker is great because it’s small, lightweight and waterproof.. meaning it can travel anywhere and everywhere with you!

Kindle Paperwhite E-Reader

What’s better than reading while traveling? Kindle is the best way for any bookworm to work through their reading list while on the go. We used to have to carry multiple heavy books on a journey, now we can carry hundreds of books on one small e-reader! I’ve had a Kindle for years and I love it, especially when traveling. The Kindle Paperwhite is great because it has a glare-free screen that resembles paper. Additionally, a single charge can last you weeks!

GoPro HERO6 Black

Another gift idea for the photography lover. Go Pro cameras are for the adventurers, as they are small, portable, and usually waterproof. This version of the GoPro automatically sends your footage to your phone where the app turns it into a QuikStory-an awesome edited video!

Or if you want to buy it in a bundle you can buy it with aHead Strap, Carrying Case, Battery and Memory Card! If you’re looking for a cheaper version of the GoPro the Hero5 is for you!

Selfie Stick

Easily capture that perfect photo! (But don’t forget to be mindful of others when in a crowded space.)

Power Adaptor

Different Countries have different power sources making this essential for an international traveler. This one works in 150+ Countries & comes with an additional 2 USB charging ports.

Skyroam Mobile Hotspot

The Skyroam is a personal WiFi hotspot to get fast, secure mobile data around the world at top destinations in Europe, North and South America, Asia, Africa and Australia. You get unlimited data AND you can use the hotspot across 5 devices – which means your phone/iPad/laptop or you can even share with friends. You pick.  You don’t have to use a SIM, you simply just press start and you are free to surf the internet. You can buy packages as little as $9 for 24-hour global day passes with unlimited data.

Fitbit

It can be difficult to stay healthy and fit while traveling, but with the Fitbit, monitoring your health while traveling is a breeze. The Fitbit not only tracks your fitness activities, it also tracks your sleep, heart rate, and daily activities so that you have an overall view of your health. This gift is perfect for the health fanatic but useful for any traveler. I just got one as an early holiday present (Thanks Mom!) and haven’t taken it off since I got it!

Other fun gifts!

Travel Journal

I love to write about my travels and keep track of all my memories and a travel journal is definitely the place to do it. Buy your loved one (or yourself) a place to document all their travel adventures. A place to write down all of their memories, to look back on for years to come! This journal is great because it is over 200 pages, with over 100 travel quotes to keep the inspiration going!

Lonely Planet’s Ultimate Travel: Our List of the 500 Best Places to See

If you want to give the gift of wanderlust this is the ultimate guide! The lists of the 500 best places to see are ranked by  Lonely Planet’s most respected travel experts.

World Map Laptop Case

A world map laptop case is a fun way to inspire wanderlust no matter where you are! There are all kinds of different world map laptop cases depending on what type and size of computer you have. (& this one comes with a keyboard cover!)

Compass Necklace / World Map Necklace

For those times when we aren’t traveling, a compass necklace or a world map necklace are both the perfect inspiration for the next adventure.. It’s also a meaningful gift that will last for years to come (and who knows how many countries it’ll get to travel to!).

Scratch Map
A perfect addition to your house/apartment! Keep track of your travels by scratching off where you’ve been.

What are your must-haves for traveling? I’d love to hear your ideas! Happy Holidays!

  1. Thanks for the post. I was looking for some new and useful ideas for gifts. You have some great suggestions… and I may just find something for myself also.

    1. it’s the perfect thing to send to someone and give them a huge hint about what you want for the holidays! thanks for checking out my post!

  2. Oh my gosh, we have so many similar things on our gift guide! Haha. Have you used the skyroam thing? I want one really bad but I’m curious how good the service is. And I have yet to try packing cubes but I keep hearing they are a game changer.

    1. great minds think alike! Packing cubes change everything…. you need to try them! (things will never be the same) thanks for checking out my post!

  3. I have that travel wallet in purple and love it! And it was only $13, cant’ beat that! I really need to add a small towel like you have listed. That’s next on my list!

  4. Bought the Lonely Planet book for a friend and I have a passport cover I love, this is a great guide. Happy Holidays xx

  5. Will definitely need these essentials! A neck pillow and a wrap for that matter! I’ll hardly stay awake during any travel hence such will come in handy!

  6. I do have microfiber travel tower and we use gen when we go for backpacking and it is he best towel! I would love to get wireless headphone love the color!

  7. Essential post !! I All are essential things but right now i have a need of neck pillow for my next short trip.
However, I am more interested in reading your Barcelona post. As visiting Spain with my kid is my top wish list. Now heading to the Barcelona post.

  8. Great list of gifts for all travellers. There are so many things in your list that I would love to buy for myself too. 6 in 1 Travel Accessories Kit and Travel Sized Reusable Bottles look really cool.

  9. That travel wallet looks awesome! Once I get my boarding pass, I’m always hyper-paranoid that I’m going to lose it! All of these make me want to jump on the next flight out of ATX!

  10. So many great ideas! I can see myself getting my husband a Fitbit. Whenever he goes someplace new, his favorite thing to do is find nature trails to hike. For my brother and sister-in-law who are world travelers, the book of 500 Best Places to See. I’ll have to ask how many they’ve already been to. x

  11. Love these ideas. I have several – never travel without my Anker charger but wish it were lighter. I need to get one of the slim neck wraps. My go-to has been an inflatable but I’ve just retired another that leaks. Hate using plastic so this looks like the next best thing.

  12. Great list! I absolutely loooove love love packing cubes! They’re such an essential part of my packing routine. And I would never travel without my kindle! Books are a fantastic time killer but bringing a huge pack of actual books is unrealistic. Thanks for the other recommendations too!

  13. Really great list! I saw sooo many things on here that I wanted to give myself and other people in my life who travel a lot
I will have to save this!

  14. Love your gift guide, especially when I have many friends whose birthdays fall in January! Oh btw, my camera equipment are very important when I travel 💖

  15. This is a really great list of things that many traveller would enjoy receiving. I am thinking about getting some noise cancelling headphones.

  16. Great list! I actually have many of the things on this list already and use them in my travels all the time. It gave me a few new ideas to buy for myself as well as gifts for friends.

  17. It turns out that I am the travel lover so these gifts would be perfect for me! lol I might have to treat myself and buy a few of these items. The luggage tags and passport cover are so adorable. I definitely need cuter luggage tags. Thanks for sharing these! xx

  18. I would have never thought of a travel hotspot but that’s a great idea! I also really need a passport cover . . . my passport is a little worse for wear haha.

    1. It’s great because I know I always struggle from the lack of internet (especially as a blogger!) … also passport covers are great, the inside of my purse isn’t always the neatest so this definitely helps protect my passport. My passport cover, not in the greatest condition, my passport is in pristine condition!

  19. Ooh those gorgeous pink/rose gold, wireless noise cancelling headphones from Bose are definitely at the top of my wishlist! Oh and I could definitely do with a neck pillow as I always get what I call ‘crunchy joints’ as they always click out of place haha!

  20. Any travel junkie would appreciate these gifts. I think cameras are perfect so they can capture all the beautiful and not-so beautiful moments they experience when they travel.

  21. I can’t live without my eye mask when traveling. I must admit I hate Bluetooth headphones when traveling, because they can’t be used to watch videos on planes yet and it is one more thing to charge.

  22. Now this a blog post idea I quite like, not the traditional Valentine`s Day gift guide but a specific post for travelers. As a wanderer myself I can`t agree more with all the ideas you mentioned. The portable charger saved my life so many times. I have my eyes on some good packing cubes but I am waiting on my next adventure. I would like to add a comfortable backpack / purse, extra batteries for DSLR users and a good quality reusable water bottle.

  23. What an amazing gift guide for travelers! So many items to choose! I’ve heard of Fitbit, it would be a great gift for my friend, she loves to be in shape while traveling and she’s also the health fanatic!

  24. This is a great list! I’d definitely pick up a few of these things for everyday life. I totally agree on the headphones. My headphones died on me on my trip to Belgium. It was a LONG flight!

  25. This is such a fantastic post!! My brother comes down once a year from england for a holiday and I never have any idea what to give him! This post is filled with such great ideas! I’m bookmarking it for for this year when I have to do present shopping again!
    thanks!

  26. Goodness!
I think that I have just added at least half of these items to my Amazon wish list for future purchases – thank you so much for sharing 🙂
As a new world traveler, I’m sure that these items (and your blog later on) will definitely come in handy!

  27. Oh yes! As a traveller I can agree that all of these items are amazing! Neck pillow for sure Is a total must for me!

  28. What a great post this is. I am always looking for great gifts for my friends and family who travel. And yes I also look for myself and what you have suggested make life easier and comfortable when travelling. I really like the 6 in 1 accessory pack.

    1. You know what? I had to come back here and check your post. It’s the birthday of our favorite travel blogger tomorrow and I wanted to give something to him. 🙂 Thanks for the list.

  29. Already have my instax, but I don’t use it that much. I like the passport case and I so need the TSA Lock for luggage, I always forget that.

  30. Great ideas here. I think a good camera is always a must have for traveling. I like the idea of a neck pillow and the travel wrap.

  31. WOW, so many cool gifts ideas came in a perfect time for me! I want them ALL!))) I have never heard about a smartphone printer, but I like it! 🙂

  32. I have never seen a travel wallet like this. Makes me think of the one time my brother lost his wallet on vacation and whether it would have been better had he had a wallet like this. Sounds like a cool idea. I know the reusable bottles and neck pillow are essentials as well.

  33. Great guide! As a frequent traveler these are gifts I have in my public list to give as present. I always tend to forget small bottles in the hotel rooms, travel organizers are nice to switch and look for most comfortable. I love inflatable stuff to keep myself more comfortable during the long flights. Also instax is my love! I often try to fin space to carry my instant camera with me

  34. The reusable water bottle and pillow is my perfect pick from this list. For that travel i need enough sleep n rest along with enough water.
