The Magic Fountains of Montjuïc – Barcelona, Spain

Categories Barcelona

The magic fountains of Montjuïc are exactly what they sound like… magical!

I have to admit that the first time I visited the Magic Fountain I was pretty skeptical. I mean, let’s face it, an illuminated fountain that changes color in time to music sounds…well, pretty cheesy if you ask me… but that couldn’t be any further away from what it’s actually like.

The Magic Fountain of Montjuic is actually an incredibly impressive display of water , colorful lights and music ranging from classical to modern hits. The show is a spectacular display of color, light, motion, music and water….  and when they mixed these elements it was absolutely stunning!

Not only the fountains themselves magical, but the whole area (Plaza Espanya) is magnificent. As you walk through the beautiful Torres Venecianes (Venetian Towers) looking towards Montjuïc, you are greeted by the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC).

This is definitely a must see when you’re in Barcelona…. and the best part is… it’s completely free!

  8. We have a light show in the UK which is pretty spectacular but I love the sound of the Spanish magic fountain show. For some reason it reminds me of fireworks, which is a good thing of course! I was so entranced by the magical colours of the fountain!

  9. What an awesome water artwork, it looks so amazing. Recently, i also saw a water play that was related to a traditional mythological story and I must say I unnerved me.

  10. I agree. There’s just something special about water and night. Especially when paired with the beautiful colors and background. The setting being Barcelona is just further icing on the cake.

  11. Wow! The fountains definitely look like an amazing experience! I bet this was a holiday to remember. We don’t have anything like this in the UK.
